Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I SUBSCRIBE to Good Light! Magazine?

Please visit our subscription page at

It offers you links to three different versions of the magazine:

·       iOS app in iTunes for your iPad and iPhone

·       Android app on Google Play

·       PDF Download sold by FastSpring for all other devices (laptop, windows, others)

Please note that these subscriptions are independent of each other. If you purchase magazine issues inside the iOS app for example, then you won't see these in your Android app or your laptop and vice versa.

How does the purchase process work?

You can either subscribe to the magazine or buy single issues. The subscription works like any regular magazine subscription. If you subscribe (Auto-Renewal) you will get the latest magazine issue published and will have access to any future issues as long as you remain a subscriber. Furthermore you will have access to our Hot Topic series, which consists of smaller, more topic focused special issues, which are available to subscribers only.

If you purchase a single issue, you will be able to access and download that issue immediately after the successful purchase.

A subscription does not give you access to back issues. However, back issues can be purchased as single issues at any point in time.

For more details regarding subscriptions please visit the subscription page at

What is the difference between the versions for iOS, Android and the PDF Issues?

While the content of all three is identical, the file format and the payment method differ.

The iOS version ( is available via iTunes and is present on your Newsstand. If you want to read the mag on an iPad or iPhone, this is absolutely the way to do it. Inside the app you can subscribe or purchase issues from Apple using your iTunes ID. There is no connection to the website and there is no need to log into the website for anything. You won't automatically get a web account or anything similar.

On an Android device with Android 4.1 or higher, our native Android app ( will give you the optimum reading experience. It is available on Google Play. You subscribe and purchase issues from Google with your Google Play account. Again, there is no connection to the website and certainly no connection to iTunes. So if you purchase issues inside your Android app, you can see them on all devices that are on your Android account, but not on an iOS device, neither on our Website.

The PDF Issues ( are offered in the standard PDF format, which is working inside pretty much any web browser and any device that features a PDF reader. If you want to read the magazine on the desktop of your Windows computer or Mac, then the PDF Issues are right for you. Download the PDF and copy it to all of your computers. It is not protected and it is also fully printable. You can subscribe the PDF issue via FastSpring. Again, there is no connection between the PDF Issues and iTunes or Google Play.

The magazine app is crashing, what do I do?

How does the PDF Subscription work?

Right after you signed up for the PDF subscription in our online shop, you will receive an eMail. This email contains download links for

·       the current issue of Good Light! Magazine and for

·       subscriber-only issues.

From then on, every month when a new issue is released, then you will receive an email with the download link to that issue. You don’t have to login anywhere, you don’t have to remember passwords, it is all delivered conveniently via eMail as long as your subscription is active.

But please note, for security reasons our distributor FastSpring does expire the download links in the first email, the one for the current issue, after 7 days. So make sure you download the current issue within 7 days. Please also note that our PDF subscription is not linked in any way to Apple’s subscription for the iOS app or Google’s subscription for Android. While the PDFs can be viewed on any device, the native apps are not capable of displaying PDFs and will require separate subscriptions.

Do new subscribers get access to back issues?

With their payment subscribers actually subscribe to the upcoming regular issue of Good Light! Magazine. In addition to that subscribers get the current magazine issue and the current subscriber only issues for free. Granting free access to all back issues would not be fair to those readers, who paid for the back issues. It would also violate the terms of service of the appstores that our magazine is offered in. That's why our subscription is modelled exactly like a magazine subscription in the good old paper days.

How can I pay for my magazine subscription?

You can subscribe to the PDF version via FastSpring. They accept credit cards, Paypal and many country specific options like direct debit.

Watch this quick video with Michael walking you through this process:

It is somewhat confusing that Apple provides you with the option to enter an "account number". However, they do not assign any account number to you, hence there is no number to enter. So please ignore that option. It's designed for print magazine, that's why Apple sometimes also calls it "Print Account Number".

What to do if I see blank pages or broken images in the magazine?

Please refresh your browser window if you are using a web browser,or delete the magazine and download it again if you are in an app.

Sometimes, especially when the internet connection was intermitted during download, the content is not rendered correctly. We choose top notch partners for delivery and hosting, but even Apple, Google and Amazon can't magically fix internet issues in case they occur during download. So please download the mag issue or the app again. Don't worry, you will never get charged twice. It also helps to update your app to the latest version.
